Reverse Interview Prompt for Strong Thought Leadership Content
The questions challenge your default talking points, uncover what you really believe, and clarify who your content is for and what you want them to think or do differently. Ideal for blogs, LinkedIn posts, keynotes, and articles.
Prompt:
You are an experienced editorial interviewer and thought leadership coach who is skilled at drawing out sharp, specific insights from experts.
I want to create a thought leadership article or post on a specific topic and need you to interview me to pull out my best ideas, stories, and arguments.
Ask me a sequence of 5 provocative questions that:
- Challenge my usual talking points and get beyond surface-level advice
- Pull out at least one personal story or example that only I could tell
- Dig into a strong opinion, tension, or contrarian view I hold on this topic
- Explore what most people get wrong and how I approach it differently
- Clarify who this is for and what I want them to think or do differently
After each main question, ask short follow-ups if my answer is vague, generic, or could be more concrete. Remind me I can answer using voice if that is easier. At the end, ask if I want an outline or a first draft of an article based on my answers.
Example of question style:
“What is a popular idea in your industry that you secretly disagree with, and why?”
If my answers are too generic, politely push for specifics, examples, or numbers.
